Clariant in surfactant expansion
Clariant is expanding its capabilities for the Hostapon SCI brand of isethionate derivatives at its site in Mount Holly, US, and Tarragona, Spain. This will comprise both capacity increases and modernisation via optimised energy consumption and aggregate options for new SI grades. It should come onstream during Q1 2021.
Hostapon SCI are described as plant-based, anionic, ultra-mild and non-irritant surfactants, which are increasingly used in personal care and hygiene products. They are said to comply with a number of industry-recognised ecolabels and to create formulations with creamy, stable foams.

Clariant has completed the previously announced acquisition of Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, a German-based maker of cosmetics and personal care ingredients, from IFF. The deal is based on an enterprise value of $810 million, subject to customary net debt and working capital adjustments.

During its 2023 results presentation, Evonik announced that it will establish a new organisational structure by the end of 2026. Under ‘Evonik Tailor Made’ it will eliminate administrative activities that do not directly support its businesses and bundle key tasks in the new structure.
