German-headquartered chemical distribution company Brenntag has started work on a new multi-million pound distribution facility in the North East of England, due for completion by the end of 2018.

Located within the Turbine Business Park, the new facility is adjacent to the main arterial routes, the A1 and A19 and will have 4,000ft2 of office and amenities, a 15,000ft2 warehouse with dedicated, high bay storage for both life and material science speciality ingredients, and bulk storage facilities for a range of inorganic products.

The new site will have extensive mixing and blending capabilities and will effectively be the hub for the North East region, servicing both the current customer base and the wider Brenntag network.

The new 3.3 acre (1.3 ha) site will be home to the Brenntag Newcastle team, where staff have been closely involved with the design for the new facilities.

Shaun Myers, business services director, said: “This major investment signifies our strategic intent to further enhance the efficiency of our infrastructure, geographical reach and added value capabilities in the core markets we serve.”
