IMCD forms new business group

Distributor IMCD has formed a new business group called Industrial Solutions, which will absorb the previous Synthesis group and areas of the other industries it serves. This has been done in response to such global trends as growing demand for products in applications like high-temperature, electronics and batteries, and sustainability, notably in recycling and water treatment.

New facility for Oleon

Oleochemicals firm Oleon has begun construction of a $50 million production facility in Baytown, Texas. Due to be put into service end of 2023, this will produce esters and provide blending services to support the firm’s growing oil and gas business, while bringing it closer to customers in the North America, according to CEO Moussa Naciri.

This focuses on selecting goods and services suppliers to align environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance management and to ensure the use of responsibly sourced goods and services.

Valtris to change hands

Miami-based HIG Capital alternative investment firm HIG Capital has agreed to sell Valtris Specialty Chemicals to an affiliate of funds managed by SK Capital Partners. The transaction is expected to close in Q3, subject to customary closing conditions. Terms were not disclosed.

Valtris is located in Independence, Ohio, and operates nine manufacturing facilities worldwide. It makes speciality polymer additives to impart flexibility, stability processability and flame retardance, plus speciality chemicals for a wide range of end markets.
