Asahi Glassplant buys Syrris

Asahi Glassplant UK has acquired Syrris, a supplier of flow chemistry and jacketed reactor systems, and also scientific glass company Glass Solutions from Blacktrace Holdings of Royston, which had operated Syrris for nearly 20 years. The company, a subsidiary of Japan’s Asahi Glassplant, which is in turn part of Asahi Glass Chemical (AGC), has also created AG! UK to manage its manufacturing, R&D and commercial activities.

According to Asahi Glassplant CEO Yasu Ikeda, this will increase the company’s capacity, adding Glass Solutions’ glass blowing capacity near Cambridge to sites in the US and Switzerland, while also boosting its global customer support. Asahi Glassplant has already been “working closely with Syrris for many years”, Ikeda added. Acquiring it “forms part of a strategic plan to greatly expand its product portfolio, enhancing the batch chemistry reactor offering and adding the exciting flow chemistry range”.
