Tioxide has said that it expects launches the second phase of its recruitment programme ahead of the restart of operations at its Greatham TiO2 facility in Hartlepool, UK. The company was established in April when LB Group acquired the site.

Tioxide has recruited more than 60 employees in its first 12 weeks, filling most of the 70 positions announced by LB Group, bringing the total workforce to more than 200. This includes roles in finance, business services, production, engineering and technical roles at Greatham itself, the R&D centre at Wynyard and the head office in Stockton-on-Tees.

About 60 more will be added in the second wave. Subject to the successful completion of key commissioning milestones, single-stream production should resume within August, according to Karen Askwith, managing director at Tioxide

“Restarting a manufacturing operation of this scale is a major undertaking, and we are continuing to make excellent progress,” Askwith added. “As we move through the commissioning phase, our focus remains on achieving a safe and successful restart.”
