Acutaas opens HPAPI pilot plant

India’s Acutaas Chemicals, the former Ami Organics, has inaugurated a new pilot plant at its Unit 1 facility at Surat. The total investment was not disclosed but the company is known to have allocated $14.7 million in 1H 2026 to finance electrolyte additives and this facility.

The pilot plant will support R&D for new product trials and validations. It also includes a dedicated area for Occupational Exposure Band (OEB) 4 containment, enabling the company to undertake development and scale-up of intermediates for the manufacture of high potency APIs.

This came shortly after Acutaas’ 75:25 joint venture with J&Materials, Indichem, inaugurated a new semiconductor materials manufacturing plant in Gongju, South Korea. Built over an 11-month period with an investment of $21.8 million, this represents the company's strategic expansion into ultra-high-purity electronic materials.
