Texas-based Shrieve Chemical, a global distributor of specialised chemicals, has acquired two companies in quick succession: FIS Chemicals of the UK and Vertec BioSolvents of West Chicago. Terms were not disclosed in either case.

FIS formulates and manufactures high performance chemicals for industries including oil and gas, renewables, marine, hospitality and logistics. It is headquartered in Aberdeen, the base for the UK’s North Sea oil and gas industry.

Meanwhile, Vertec develops biobased solvents and patented blends of them for end markets including agriculture, home, industrial and institutional, coatings and inks, food and consumer brands. It was originally founded in 2001 as a cooperative R&D agreement out of Argonne National Laboratories.

Shrieve, which is owned by Gemspring Capital, said that both acquisitions will deepen its presence in key end markets. “Together, the companies are well-positioned to enhance global capabilities, broaden the combined portfolio and strengthen relationships across a diverse set of industries,” it stated.
