DuPont is now taking 100% of its grid electricity at all 13 of its EU manufacturing sites from renewable sources. This was achieved through the purchase of bundled and unbundled renewable energy certificates (RECs) and installing on-site solar panels, the company added.
In 2021, DuPont joined RE100, a global environmental initiative led by the Climate Group in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project, which brings together companies committed to shifting the electricity used globally in its operations to 100% renewable energy. It has targeted net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Earlier, DuPont revealed that the name of the company that will be created through the intended spin-off of its Electronics business will be Qnity. This is inspired by ‘Q’, the symbol for electrical charge, and ‘unity’. Qnity will be one of the largest and broadest solutions providers to the semiconductor and electronics industries, with over 10,000 employees in more than 80 countries.
