J.M. Huber has acquired R.J. Marshall Company's alumina trihydrate (ATH) antimony-free flame retardant and molybdate-based smoke suppressant assets. These will be incorporated into the Huber Advanced Materials (HAM) strategic business unit of Huber Engineered Materials. The products containing antimony trioxide are not part of the deal.
Huber said that the acquisition “will bolster HAM’s ability to effectively meet the evolving needs of its customers and enables HAM to offer more cost-effective replacements for antimony trioxide”. It is also part of a strategic commitment to develop its halogen-free fire retardant and smoke suppressant portfolio.
