Symrise has announced that it has opened its new Scent Creative Centre in Singapore and is investing in additional production capacity for the fragrance ingredient Globalide in India. The amounts involved were not disclosed but the company said that both support its ‘ONE Symrise’ strategy.
The Scent Creative Centre will combine the capabilities of multiple businesses within the company to translate fragrances into products. It uses settings that mirror real-life places where they are used, such as a bathroom for skin cleansing facilities and a salon for hair care products.
This is part of multi-phase investment in Singapore, where Symrise has already spent €80 million in capabilities spanning neuroscience, AI and automation over the past ten years. In Q1 2027, the company will add an innovation centre adjacent to the new centre to expand its analytical and research capabilities for co-creation with customers and universities.
Singapore is also already home to Symrise’s new Global Skin Cleansing Centre of Excellence, which supports the development of bar soaps, shower gels, handwash and emerging cleansing formats of all kinds.
Globalide, meanwhile, is a biodegradable macrocyclic musk ingredient, which is said to add “long-lasting, elegant notes to fragrances”, while combining strong olfactory performance with versatility across applications. A growing proportion of the customer base for this is also in Asia.
