Croda International has announced the validation of its updated climate goals by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), specifically the SBTi Net Zero Standard and the SBTi Forest, Land & Agriculture Guidance. The company was one of the first major chemical companies to have decarbonisation targets validated by SBTi, in 2021, and has worked with SBTi ever since
By the end of 2030, Croda aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% and absolute Scope 3 emissions by 25%. Under the FLAG project, it will seek to reduce absolute Scope 3 land-related upstream emissions by 30.3%. These targets have been integrated into its business strategies.
Separately, Croda has expanded the capacity of its Super Refined Poloxamer 188, a highly purified, fast-dissolving granular excipient for cell culture at Leek, UK. This complements continuing investment at sites in Japan and the US. No financial details were disclosed.
