Major acquisition for Ecolab

Ecolab is to acquire Ovivo’s Electronics business. It will pay $1.8 billion in cash at the closing, subject to customary adjustments. The business is expected to have sales of $500 million in 2025, potentially doubling Ecolab’s sales in high-tech fields, and employs more than 900 people. Closing is expected in Q1 2026.

This adds ultra-pure water technologies to Ecolab’s water systems, digital technologies and global service capabilities. The company said that the combined technology platform “will enable Ecolab to expand its offerings to provide circular water management solutions for its microelectronics customers designed to significantly reduce fresh water use in their manufacturing process while maximising chip production and quality”.
