Kemira begins iron phosphate trials

Kemira has started pilot operations for iron phosphate production at its site in Helsingborg, Sweden. If customer qualification processes and further process validation are successful, it will evaluate future investments in commercial-scale production.

Iron phosphate is a core building block the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for use in electric vehicles, energy storage systems and other industrial applications. Kemira is one of the first producers of iron phosphate in Europe. The company said that this is a natural extension of its expertise in inorganic chemistry, iron-based chemistries, industrial process development and scaling technologies.
