Almac adds flow hydrogenation

Almac Sciences has launched a cGMP-compliant flow high-pressure hydrogenation capability. It said that this will give clients access to “faster, safer and more efficient” hydrogenation at up to 300ºC and 100 bar with “full regulatory compliance and rigorous analytical oversight” at both clinical and commercial scales. 

Over the past eight years, the company had invested in packed-bed hydrogenation and demonstrated performance at scales of >100 kg, in addition to its expertise in cryogenic organometallic chemistry. Carrying out hydrogenation in continuous flow conditions offers superior control over temperature, pressure and mixing.
