Evonik has inaugurated the 100,000 tonnes/year alkoxides production facility it originally announced in May 2023 on Jurong Island, Singapore. The “mid-double-digit-million-euro investment” will meet growing demand and secure regional supply alongside sites in Germany, the US and Argentina
Alkoxides are mainly used as catalysts to produce sustainable biodiesel fuel from vegetable oils, used cooking oils and other fat-based waste. It is also used to make APIs and fine chemicals.
The new site is designed to operate with net-zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, aligning with Evonik’s broader sustainability goals. It is also part of the company’s broader shift toward innovation-driven growth as part of the Custom Solutions segment.
