Merck inaugurates Semiconductor Solutions site

Merck KGaA has inaugurated its 150,000 m2 Semiconductor Solutions ‘megasite’ in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, after investing a total of €500 million. This will begin production in 2026, creating 150 additional jobs.

The new site is the company’s largest semiconductor materials campus worldwide. It focuses on thin films, formulation materials and speciality gases for high-precision layering, etching and patterning processes in advanced semiconductor production, which are used in next-generation logic and memory chips, particularly for AI applications. 

This also brings Merck’s five-year ‘Level Up’ investment programme near to completion. Since 2021, the Electronics segment has invested over €3 billion worldwide in capacity and capabilities alongside its major customers.
