Kureha America, a subsidiary of the Japanese firm, has acquired a biopesticide and associated microbial interaction analysis technology, from an unnamed US-based start-up. It has also completed preliminary internal technical evaluation, which found the biopesticide to be effective against a wide range of plant pathogens such as Fusarium diseases, including Panama disease of bananas, bacterial diseases and nematodes.

The company is now establishing an internal platform to leverage the microbial interaction analysis technology. It will combine with its existing core technologies, such as biostimulants, “to develop new and value-added disease control solutions”. This is expected to significant revenue contributions for Kureha beyond 2030.
