Sterling buys UK CRO

CDMO Sterling Pharma Solutions has acquired UK-based NewChem Technologies, which offers contract services focused on complex organic process chemistry to the pharmaceuticals, chemicals, diagnostics, biotechnology and veterinary markets. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes all of NewChem’s assets and employees.

Charnwood expands CRO footprint

As part of its expansion plans for this year, Charnwood Molecular, a UK-based pre-clinical discovery CRO to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology market, has become the sole occupier of a three-storey laboratory facility at Charnwood Campus in Loughborough. This is being funded with support from European private equity fund Synova, which recently took a stake in the company.

Charles River to buy CiToxLab

Charles River Laboratories (CRL) has agreed to acquire CiToxLab in a €448 million merger that will create the largest player in the early stage CRO space for the pharmaceuticals industry. The deal is expected to close in Q2, subject to labour consultations, regulatory requirements and customary closing conditions.
