Nitrogen-fixing microbial extended

BioConsortia, a California-based specialist in advanced microbial products for agriculture, has announced some field trial results confirming that levels of nitrogen-replacement from its nitrogen-fixing seed and soil treatment products met or exceeded performance expectations when evaluated in potatoes, tomatoes and lettuce. This expands their potential market beyond cereals.

Gains in biologicals are helping to offset huge market share for generics. Gregory Morris reports from Savannah

It was all business at the Specialty & Agro Chemicals America conference on 19-22 June, in the new venue of Savannah, Georgia. Exhibitors said that there was “a high level of energy at the show,” and this extended to the programme presentations.

Nitrogen-fixing microbial deal

Mosaic and BioConsortia, which are both based in California, have entered into and agreement to develop and launch the latter’s nitrogen-fixing microbial products for all crops, including corn, wheat, rice, fruit and vegetables, in China, India, Thailand and Vietnam.

This follows a collaboration to develop these products for the Americas at the end of 2020 and successful field trials in the US and Canada. Fertiliser producer Mosaic already has sales channels in place in the region.
