Expansion to Spectrum range

During the recent BioProcess International US West conference in San Diego, Spectrum Chemical announced an expansion of its BioCertified line of products that undergo complete lot analysis including expanded testing for endotoxin, bioburden and elemental impurities.

This brings the total in the BioCertified range to about 100. The new products include:

* An expanded line of biological buffers, which are used in modelling biological systems, cell culture, bioprocessing, purification and formulation

* Amino acids for protein purification and formulations

Spectrum working with Angus

Under a new agreement, Spectrum Chemicals is to distribute Angus Chemical’s TRIS Amino AC USP/EP (pictured) and BIS-TRIS biologics-grade buffers to the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industries in the US and Canada. The company said that these complement its own bioprocessing portfolio such as the BioCertified product line.

Angus is the world’s largest and only fully integrated manufacturer of TRIS buffers. These are used as buffering agents in cell culture and bioprocessing applications, and in the purification of biological molecules in downstream processing.
