First non-German Project House for Evonik
Taiwan site for ‘Light & Electronics’ APH
Evonik Industries has opened its ‘Light & Electronics’ Advanced Project House (APH) at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Although the company has set up various ‘project houses’ before, this is the first to be located outside Germany.
“We aim to generate a link to the growing light and electronics industry in Asia, identify and realise new business opportunities through joint technical developments and close hands-on interactions with our customers.” said Patrik Wohlhauser, a member of the Evonik executive board who is responsible for innovation management.
Several projects have already started up with support from the company’s business units and business lines in areas including lighting, displays, touch panel, photovoltaic, LEDs and functional coatings. A New Business Development function will also identify new business opportunities in the electronics industry, with the initial focus on Taiwan, mainland China and Korea.
