ECHA considers classification on three chemicals
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has opened public consultation of proposals for harmonised classification and labelling for three chemicals via its website (http://echa.europa.eu). These will be taken into account by ECHA's Committee for Risk Assessment when developing its opinion on the CLH proposal to submit to the EC. Ultimately the three may be added to the list of hazardous substances under Annex VI, Part 3 of the CLP Regulation).
The chemicals concerned and their proposed labels are as follows: the plasticiser and steering fluid lubricant diisohexyl phthalate (DIHP) ‘Reproductive toxicity’; the fungicide tebuconazole ‘Acute toxicity, Hazardous to the aquatic environment’; and, imazalil for post-harvest use on fruits ‘Acute toxicity, Carcinogenicity, Hazardous to the aquatic environment’. Consultation on DIHP ends on 21 September and for the other two on 5 October.
