Charles River buys Accugenix

Deal will add 1% to 2012 sales

Charles River Laboratories International, the Massachusetts-based CRO and medical equipment and services giant, has acquired Accugenix, a company based in Newark, Delaware, that creates testing used to identify microbes in a $17 million deal that will increase its sales by about 1% this year but will not affect net income. The company said that Accugenix’s testing can be used in the making of biotech drugs, medical devices, nutrition products and consumer care items.
