Lanxess plans 80% growth over five years

German speciality chemicals firm Lanxess revealed its ambitions for the next five years at its annual Media Day in Düsseldorf on 15 September. It envisages increasing EBITDA pre-exceptionals, which it views as its chief earnings indicator, by about 80% to €1.4 billion in 2015. This will be done by a mixture of organic and external growth, though mainly the former.

W.R. Grace to buy Synthetech

Speciality chemicals and catalysts company W.R. Grace & Co. has agreed to acquire Synthetech, an Oregon-based manufacturer of fine chemicals that employs 63 at an R&D and production site in Albany, Oregon, and a second R&D site in San Diego. Plans are to integrate Synthetech into the Grace Davison division’s Specialty Technologies business.
